Pet Cloning Can Help You Process Grief of Losing a Pet: How To Get It

Animals are cloned for commercial purposes. Commercial cloning of pets, cattle, competition camels and horses, and even endangered and extinct creatures is currently underway. Pet cloning isn't actually new. Snuppy, the first cloned dog was recloned into four other dogs in 2017 even though, one of the four died.

Udvar-Hazy, 29, cloned Willow her dog with the help of ViaGen, a Texas-based business that notably copied singer Barbara Steisand's dog Samantha in 2018. She ended up with Phoenix as well as five other genetically identical puppies, which she gave away to friends.

“I get a lot of crap about cloning,” says Udvar-Hazy. “People say I have zombie dogs, or they call me a crazy rich girl. It was hurtful to me at first.”

Cost of Pet Cloning
ViaGen Pets can currently clone dogs for $50,000, cats for $35,000, and horses for $45,000 with an initial payment. However, the website claims that even if the clone has the same same DNA profile as the original pet, it will develop its own personality and temperament.

The cost of cloning is high, according to the website, because the cloned pups and kittens are given "state of the art housing," nutritious diets, and "professional" veterinary care.
