How RRR Hit Song, Naatu Naatu Shined at 95th Oscar's

Last night's Oscars Awards ceremony was filled with glitz, glamour, and history-making moments, but none quite as scintillating as the win for the Telugu-language film RRR's hit song, Naatu Naatu.

This upbeat and catchy tune, featuring lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR performing energetic dance moves, made history as the first Indian film song to win an Oscar for Best Original Song.

"Sealed its place in history," said influential politician N Chandrababu Naidu on Twitter, while the film's official Twitter handle dedicated the win to "all our amazing fans across the world."

Composer MM Keeravani, accepting the award, called the song "the pride of every Indian" and went on to sing the rest of his speech in the tune of The Carpenters' hit song, "Top of the World," bringing the audience to laughter and applause.

But the Telugu-language film's success didn't stop there. India won a second Oscar for Best Documentary Short film category with The Elephant Whisperers, a heartwarming story about a couple who care for an injured baby elephant in the picturesque Nilgiri mountains in southern India.

While the documentary explores the warm bond between human and animal, Naatu Naatu has captivated audiences worldwide with its infectious beat and charming choreography.

Its pulsating performance at the ceremony, sung by Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, received a standing ovation from the audience.

Shot in front of the picturesque Mariinskyi Palace in Ukraine, Naatu Naatu features beats commonly used in folk songs in India's Telugu-speaking states and several folksy references. The lively choreography has inspired several Instagram reels and dance trends on social media.

The song's success already made history in January when it won a Golden Globe and the Critics' Choice award for the best song. Its Oscar win last night was yet another milestone, proving that India's cultural and artistic achievements continue to make waves across the globe.
