Affiliate Marketing: To Do or Not To Do?

Affiliate marketing isn't a rip-off! If you're not a social butterfly, however, you'll have a hard time making money from it.

In fact, I don't recommend joining an affiliate marketing platform to folks who want to make money online quickly because misery is a part of the process.

Affiliate marketing is a way to monetize your blog, WhatsApp status, and social media channels by giving links to online stores and services, and earning a commission when a reader clicks the link and makes a purchase. Does this appear to be a ruse?

According to figures issued in June of last year, Amazon is the largest marketplace on earth, with 17 million dollars worth of items purchased per hour.

This equates to around $408 million per day and $12.5 billion per month. Changing this to naira would cost trillions of dollars, more than triple the federal government's annual budget.

Let's imagine you're promoting Amazon products on social media; you'll get paid a fee everytime someone buys something through your link.

Before You Go Into Affiliate Marketing, Think About These

1. For low income countries where online market isn't big enough for you to make a significant amount of money, you will struggle.

2. This program is ineffective in low-traffic areas. Before you take the plunge, you must have a significant amount of traffic on your blogs and social media accounts, as well as (ready buyers).

3. There is a lot of competition in this program. Similar to the traditional offline Affiliate Program where you get to meet targets.

4. It's vital to understand that before you join the program, you must earn one sale within six months or you will be tossed out (Amazon policy).

Making money online is not simple, but it is doable. Make thorough study before joining any Affiliate program.
